Yang Jianhua was born in Beijing in 1953. Deputy President of Yunnan University’s Changxin International College of Art and tutor of postgraduate students. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1982. In 1984, he joined the Educational Administration Department to carry out teaching management.
He is a member of the Chinese Artists Association and former President of the Academy of Fine Arts.
Vice-President of Beijing Chinese Calligrapher and Painter Association and Vice-Chairman of Art Evaluation Committee of China Calligraphy and Painting Association; Secretary and Vice-President of the Party Committee of China Landscape and Painting Research Institute; Member of Undergraduate Education Evaluation Group of the Ministry of Education; Deputy Secretary-General of First Council of Art Education Research Branch of Beijing Institute of Higher Education; Member of Expert Group of Education Evaluation of Private Art Colleges; President of the "Oilman" Painting and Calligraphy Academy and consultant of Beijing Shoumei Painting Academy and member of the Academic Committee of Central Plains University of Culture and Art. In April 2012, he established the Japanese Jianhua Art Museum in Oita Prefecture, Japan and in April 2013, the New York Jianhua Art Museum in Manhattan, New York, USA.
